In my spare time, you'll find me with my hands dirty either with a ball of clay, working on my 1968 Pontiac GTO or camping and off-roading in my husband's super awesome 1981 Toyota 4x4, our dog Devo in tow. When it's 111°F here in Arizona, (like it is right now as I type this) it probably goes without saying I enjoy hand weaving and all things crazy textile lady, but that's another website.
The foundation of my all my work is centered around my great loves: art, fashion, color, sports, cars and the great outdoors. Designing and developing sustainable performance products was never a plan, but a natural path. I enjoy the challenge of new disciplines and aesthetic of strength combined with ease and comfort is universal to whatever medium it is applied.
I graduated from VCU's Communication Art and Design Department, focusing on product design and 3D Animation. With a reel full of crazy characters, I landed my first job working for a Japanese kids brand designing and developing toys. Developing my own textiles and other materials was so intriguing to me. The ability to create materials (real materials) customized to the demands of the product and bending them to the will of the design is the essence of good product creation. Testing and finding out what's is possible, building upon it, the drive to invent and problem solve lead me to performance footwear where innovation is foremost.
